What is chiropractic care?

The primary treatment by the Doctor of Chiropractic will be chiropractic adjustments, which are purposely intentioned movements of joints with the desired effect being to remove interferences to nerves, which then allows your body to use its innate ability to heal itself. Chiropractic adjustments also have the desirable effect enabling muscles, tendons, and ligaments to properly function and heal, and allows blood flow to properly occur. Chiropractic adjustments can be made be either the use of hands or mechanical instruments to any bone or joint in the body including both spinal and extremity bones. You may or may not hear an audible sound, which is just air being released from the joint space as bones are moved into their proper positions.

How long does it take? Do I have to return a lot?

Chiropractic care is a process. You can’t expect to instantly heal any potential sprains or strains you have in your body. It takes time. During initial care, being seen 2-3 times per week is normal. This can last for 1 week to several months depending on the severity of your condition. As you get better, the frequency decreases and most patient adopt a maintenance care to retain the progress in spinal health once they return to 100%. This is not a requirement, but most patient choose the extra care, because it truly does help with the aches and pains of life.

The first visit typically lasts an hour. Dr. Martin enjoys getting to know his patients and what their health needs are. Following visits can last anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour or so.
